Stowmarket’s market scene set for revamp as residents rallied to ‘use it or lose it’
A town's market scene is set for a revamp as a council and traders rally residents to ‘use it or lose it’.
Stowmarket’s markets are receiving a transformation in 2025 with new events and updated favourites alongside the continuation of the much-loved twice-weekly market.
Driven by community feedback, Stowmarket Town Council has announced plans to breathe new life into the town’s markets — encouraging residents to embrace the changes and make the most of the market scene.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new line-up which is set to run from April to December.
Farmers Market - First Saturday of the month
Following a successful trial in 2024, Stowmarket’s Farmers Market is set to return, featuring a selection of locally-sourced produce.
Visitors can expect fresh bread, handmade chocolates, gourmet dog treats and a variety of hot food vendors.
April’s market will welcome Otis Breading with its range of sandwiches, plus fresh coffee and seating to soak in the lively market atmosphere.
Family Friendly Market - Third Saturday of the month
A new addition to the market calendar is the Family Friendly Market which will offer fun for all ages with themed entertainment, music, dancing and family-focused stalls.
In April, the StreetSide Gaming Bus will roll into town — giving children an interactive gaming experience while parents can grab a coffee or snack.
Foodie Thursdays - Every week
Foodie Thursdays will now be a weekly treat and will feature a rotating line-up of street food vendors.
From tacos and mac and cheese to gourmet sandwiches, each week will bring a new flavour to the town.
With communal seating on German-style benches and live music, Foodie Thursdays promise a vibrant lunchtime experience.
