Six of the best Sunday roasts in Suffolk, including The Unruly Pig in Woodbridge and The Black Lion in Long Melford




If you are looking for a Sunday dinner to rival your gran's this weekend, you're in the right county, as Suffolk has hundreds of pubs and restaurants offering delicious homemade roasts with all the trimmings.

We've compiled a list of six of our favourite places to eat the quintessentially British Sunday roast. Which will you choose?

The Unruly Pig's special Sunday menu offers delicious starters, mains and desserts with a range of roasted meat options.

A sample menu on their website shows guinea fowl, pork and beef could all appear on the roast lunch menu, alongside other family favourites like burgers, wellington and pasta.

Main course prices start at £12 with a 35 day-aged chateaubriand beef for two costing £37.50 per person.

The Black Lion in Long Melford, near Sudbury, is the perfect place to get the family together for a sharing roast.

The roast includes a board of meats, seasonal vegetables, large yorkshire puddings and crisp roast potatoes with two courses costing £25 and three courses £30.

Children under five eat free and vegan alternatives are available on request.

The Rivers, Sudbury

This stunning riverside restaurant has recently reopened with a new menu, now offering a fantastic Sunday lunch.

Sunday, September 19 was the first day their set menu roast was served, priced at £18.50 for two courses or £23.50 for three.

With a beautiful view over the river Stour, this restaurant brings a taste of luxury and class to the traditional roast.

The White Horse in North Street, Sudbury, serves traditional roast dinners with all the trimmings from 12pm to 4pm every Sunday.

With a choice between beef, lamb and pork, as well as vegetarian options, there's something for everyone at this welcoming, family friendly pub.

The Wickhambrook Greyhound and Twenty One, Wickhambrook

Sunday lunch at The Wickhambrook Greyhound and Twenty One promises to leave visitors full with their delicious roast that accommodates all.

Roast beef, chicken and stuffing or nut roast are all available, served with yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, seasonal veg and lashings of gravy.

The main meal starts at £15 and there are plenty of yummy dessert options if you're looking for a sweet treat to finish.

Serving a 'Roast of the Day' every Sunday, The Belstead Arms in Ipswich is the perfect place for a plate of traditional Sunday lunch and a pint.

The menu also offers plenty for the kids, including a child's portion of roast dinner, so a trip with the whole family is a must.
