Ipswich restaurant Takayama to relocate to former La Cueva site in St Nicholas Street in expansion plans

A popular town centre eatery has made plans for expansion as it prepares to move into a larger building.

Takayama, in Fore Street, Ipswich, has revealed it will move into the former La Cueva unit in St Nicholas Street next month.

This comes as its current premises is 'too small for business' and the owners made the decision to relocate.

It hopes to open between April 4 and 11, although the final date has not been confirmed, as work on converting the inside is still ongoing.

Takayama specialises in Japanese and Korean cuisine.

Irene Monroy, from Takayama, said: "We have been very grateful for all the support we have been getting from our customers from all over Suffolk.

"At the moment our current premises at Fore Street are just too small for business, therefore we had decided to relocate to St Nicholas Street.

"At Takayama, we are working for improvements and to bring new interesting things to our dining experience – relocating is just the beginning. There is some exciting news coming soon."

La Cueva closed at the turn of the new year.

Another business on St Nicholas Street, K's Bar and Grill, also shut its doors as 2023 rolled around.
