Six Suffolk restaurants that feature in the latest Michelin guide including Maison Bleue in Bury St Edmunds and Upstairs at the Mill in Tuddenham

There are plenty of places for fine-dining in Suffolk - and some have been recognised with the highest honour.

Across the county, there is only one restaurant with a Michelin star, but several others are recognised for their exquisite cuisine in the latest guide for 2022.

So if you are looking to enjoy some of the best food in Suffolk, here are six restaurants that feature in the latest Michelin guide.

The Tuddenham restaurant is regarded as one of the best in Suffolk.

As well as being highlighted in the 2022 guide, Upstairs at the Mill was also awarded four AA rosettes last year - the first place in Suffolk to achieve the feat.

Speaking at the time, chef patron Lee Bye said: "This accolade is recognition of the talent, creativity and commitment of an amazing team here at Tuddenham Mill. I could not be prouder to call them my colleagues."

Upstairs at the Mill serves a range of delicious food in a characterful setting, with the price of a main course starting from £21, while a six course menu costs £90.

If you chose to dine at the restaurant, there is also the option to help families in financial crisis by paying £3 for invisible chips.

Pea Porridge, Bury St Edmunds

The popular Bury St Edmunds eatery retained its Michelin star this year, and is the only restaurant in Suffolk to possess such an accolade.

Pea Porridge held a Bib Gourmand for several years, before achieving the one-star rating in the 2021 edition.

After notching their first Michelin star, Justin, who runs the restaurant alongside his wife Jurga, labelled it a 'dream come true'.

Whether you fancy devouring a Hertfordshire venison loin and kofte or Persian style lamb sweetbreads, the Cannon Street restaurant could be the one for you.

Located near Woodbridge, the The Turks Head in Hasketon is a thriving destination once again after reopening in 2015.

The once rundown pub was recognised in the guide this year for its 'pretty garden', 'flavoursome pub classics' and 'cheerful' service.

Their menu is inventive and stands out from the crowd, with beetrot and vodka cured salmon and Korean fried chicken burger likely to get your tastebuds kicking.

The Turks Head is open Wednesday to Saturday 12pm to 11pm and Sunday 12pm to 8pm.

As one of several pubs which serve under the Chestnut group brand, Michelin inspectors recognised the 'carefully' constructed and 'colourful' dishes at The Westleton Crown.

Settled in the quiet village of Westleton, The Crown is just a stones throw from the Suffolk coast, and is the perfect pub for a stop-off on the way to Walberswick, Southwold or Aldeburgh.

Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner - with options including grilled Suffolk pork ribeye and slow cooked Ox tongue - it's easy to see why the food is popular here.

Thirty-four recently refurbished and attractive en-suite bedrooms are also available to let.

The village pub, which re-opened in 2018 after a refurbishment, retained its Michelin plate in this year's guide.

Like its fellow establishments recognised by Michelin inspectors, The Brewers, in Lower Road, has been awarded numerous accolades over the years.

Commenting on its food in the latest guide, Michelin said: "Pub favourites sit alongside more modern dishes and are cooked with confidence and ambition."

If you are fancy a challenge, there is a 500g steak that you can take on - or share - for £60.
