Seven more Suffolk restaurants in the Michelin Guide including 1921 in Bury St Edmunds and The Unruly Pig in Bromeswell




There are plenty of places for fine-dining in Suffolk - and some have been recognised with the highest honour.

Across the county, there is only one restaurant with a Michelin star, but several others are recognised for their exquisite cuisine in the latest guide for 2022.

Here are seven more Suffolk restaurants that feature in the Michelin Guide 2022.

Leaping Hare, Stanton

Just north of Bury St Edmunds is the only Suffolk restaurant with a Bib Gourmand in the guide.

The Leaping Hare is based within Wyken Vineyards in Stanton, and has proven incredibly popular over the years.

Michelin inspectors noted their 'impressive sustainability ethos' and 'carefully judged cooking' in the latest guide.

Menu options are predominantly locally sourced, and include Suffolk chicken served with truffle mash, turnip, confit shallot and Maderia jus, as well grilled plaice fillet and lobster scampi.

The Anchor, Walberswick

With beautiful views so close to the Suffolk coast, The Anchor has become a hotspot for both locals and tourists.

Like its fellow publicans in the Michelin Guide, the Walberswick pub has won numerous awards and recognition over the years, including being named in the Good Food Guide.

Fish, of course, plays a prominent part of the menu, but there is a wide-range of options, including food served from their charcoal grill and wood-fired pizzas.

If you are keen to make the most of your stay and see more of the idyllic coast, there is also accommodation available to let.

If there is one thing to note about Bury St Edmunds, it is there are plenty of places serving quality food.

In the guide Michelin inspectors commented on the 'modern flair' of the menu at 1921 on Angel Hill and their 'interesting combinations', which are evident when you take a glimpse at their menu.

Dishes that are likely to garner plenty of curiosity include pumpkin tortellini served with pickled walnuts, and the Marks Hall venison loin with black pudding, fennel and plum.

The restaurant is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday for both lunch and dinner reservations.

Watson and Walpole, Framlingham

Praised for its excellent service and appealing Italian menu, the Framlingham eatery is another Suffolk restaurant in this year's guide.

While their menu changes every month, Italian dishes remain at the heart of Watson and Walpole have to offer.

Delicious antipasti, pizza and wood-roasted skate are some of the options on October's menu, while there is also a separate menu for vegans and vegetarians.

The restaurant has a five star rating on Tripadvisor.

The Packhorse Inn, Moulton

The Packhorse Inn is another Chestnut Group pub which features in the Michelin Guide for 2022.

Michelin inspectors said: "Understated modern dishes have subtle yet effective flavour combinations and use the best local ingredients."

The thriving pub is located in the heart of Moulton, and was the first member of the Chestnut group.

Whether you fancy devouring a sharing roast platter or a East Anglian lamb shoulder croquette, you can certainly appease your appetite here.

The Unruly Pig, Bromeswell

The Unruly Pig has received both national and international recognition over the last few years for its excellent food.

Located in Bromeswell, the pub was named as the best gastropub in the country for 2022.

With its modern interior and Mediterranean dishes served by chef Dave Wall, it is easy to see why it is popular among food lovers.

A three-course set-menu will set you back £27.50, while the a la carte menu is full of delicious choices.

Lighthouse, Aldeburgh

While there are regular menu changes, fish always remains at the centre of The Lighthouse menu.

Open for lunch and dinner servings every day, the Aldeburgh eatery has become a popular part of the seaside town.

The Lighthouse menu is bustling with mouthwatering options served at a reasonable price, including duck leg confit, pork loin steak and fish and chips.
