Five Burns Night celebrations in Suffolk located in Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Layham

Burns Night is a celebration of the Scottish poet Robert Burns and typically involves traditional food and drink including haggis and Scottish whisky, as well as recitals of Burns' poetry.

The tradition, which takes place on January 25 every year, began in 1801 when Burns' friends held a memorial supper for him on the fifth anniversary of his death.

Celebrations typically include a soup to start, haggis, neeps and tatties for main along with a recital of the 'Address to a Haggis' and may end with a Scottish dessert such as cranachan or a whisky trifle. They often also include music and a dance.
