West Suffolk Council decision on energy storage plans in Bury St Edmunds postponed due to error
A final decision on energy storage plans recommended for refusal has been postponed due to an error.
Members of West Suffolk's development control committee were due to discuss plans submitted by Ashleigh Boyce, of AMP Clean Energy, for a new 'battery box' within the Lark Grange development south of Mount Road, in Bury St Edmunds.
However, the application was withdrawn from the council's agenda due to an error in the address, which referred to the site as being in Great Barton.
This means the application will now be considered early next year when committee members meet again.
The box, papers submitted to the council stated, could save up to 160 tonnes of carbon each year over 30 years and power 200 homes for up to four hours in cases of supply disruption in the area.
Although planning officers said these benefits carried significant weight in favour of the application, they still recommended it for refusal after concluding the application would erode the landscape and be detrimental to the street scene.
