Beccles business owner could lose licence following money laundering charges as review due by East Suffolk Council
A bar and restaurant owner could lose his premises licence following money laundering charges.
Suffolk Constabulary has asked East Suffolk Council to revoke the premises licence for Wine Vaults Bar and Restaurant in 2A Blyburgate, Beccles, on the grounds of prevention of crime and disorder.
The report said Cristopher Nunn, the owner, has been charged with three offences: theft; fraud by misrepresentation; and concealing, disguising, converting and the transfer of criminal property-money laundering.
The first charge, which he has pleaded guilty to, related to the theft of high-value books stolen from his former employers, a printing firm in Bungay, and from the publishers of high-value legal reference books.
The other two charges are being kept on file, meaning they have not been dropped but are left on file so they can be resurrected in the future if it becomes necessary.
The licence review will take place on Monday, but members of the council's licensing sub-committee may have to hold part of the meeting in private so certain information is not revealed.
One representation has been received from a third party in support of the review application but was kept confidential.
