Woodbridge opening date for Specsavers, moving into former M&Co in The Thoroughfare, brought forward
The opening date for Specsavers in Woodbridge has been brought forward, as it prepares to relocate to a former clothes store.
The opticians, in The Thoroughfare, will move several doors down into the former M&Co this week.
The clothing chain shut its doors in April after the company went under, while Specsavers sought a larger space to continue its work.
A grand opening event will take place on Saturday, October 28, which will see mayor Eamonn O’Nolan cut the string and marks its launch.
However, the store is set to open to the public this Thursday, October 26, at 10am.
Specsavers previously told SuffolkNews that the store would open on October 30.
Its new location will give the team a far larger space to work with.
The new premises will see its existing four testing rooms increase to seven, and it will have an additional audiology room, bringing the total to two.
Specsavers will also be able to hire more staff, although exact numbers have yet to be confirmed.
Specsavers has been in Woodbridge for more than a decade.
The store is run by ophthalmic directors Victoria Robins and Ming Tye as well as retail director Hannah Bennett-Lightfoot.
They are joined be a team of experienced opticians.
Victoria said: “We’ve been on the high street for over 13 years and we pride ourselves on serving the community of Woodbridge.”
She stated the team loved taking care of people in Woodbridge, but a desire for more space led to them to decide to move.
Victoria added: “With this new store, we can do so much more and serve many more customers each week.
“As we edge closer to opening day, we are working hard preparing the store for the community, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
Specsavers’ current location at 52 The Thoroughfare is shut while the move takes place.
