Woodbridge Fire Station pumping operation restores healthy oxygen levels to fishing lake
At-risk marine wildlife received a helping hand from Suffolk firefighters, who helped restore a lake to healthy oxygen levels.
Woodbridge Fire Station deployed a crew to a fishing lake at approximately 10am this morning, to assist with a water pumping operation.
This was necessary, a fire service spokesman explained, because of the oxygen levels had dropped in the lake, placing the fish at risk.
The crew used a light portable pump, a ground monitor, lengths of hose, and a dividing breach to pump the water back into the lake, thereby adding oxygen.
Firefighters then remained on the scene, until the oxygen levels within the lake had improved.
