Police appeal after prisoner Andrew Smith absconds Hollesley Bay prison, near Woodbridge

Police are on a hunt for a prison absconder who is serving an 18-year sentence for grievous bodily harm.

Andrew Smith, 37, who was serving his sentence at Hollesley Bay prison, near Woodbridge, was reported missing just before 10am this morning.

He is described as being 6ft tall with brown hair and eyes, and is of a stocky build.

He also has short facial hair.

Anyone who has seen him, knows of his whereabouts or has seen a man matching the description, is urged to contact Suffolk police, quoting CAD 98 of 28 September.
