Fatal stabbing in Ipswich Avenue at Sutton, near Woodbridge, sees man arrested on suspicion of murder




A murder investigation has been launched following a fatal stabbing in Sutton.

Police were called at just before 9pm to reports of a stabbing outside a property in Ipswich Avenue.

Ambulance crews including an air ambulance attended, but the victim – a 37-year-old man – died at the scene.

A 42-year-old man, from Ipswich, was detained at the scene and arrested on suspicion of murder.

He has been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Detectives are treating this as an isolated incident and the victim and arrested man are understood to have been known to each other.

A section of Ipswich Avenue is closed from the junction with Easton Road as police inquiries take place.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses to the incident, including anyone driving along Ipswich Avenue either before, or just after 9pm, who has a dashcam fitted in their vehicle and may have footage that could be of assistance.
