Notcutts Garden Centre in Woodbridge begins next phase of transformation and modernisation scheme
A family-owned Woodbridge garden centre has begun the next phase of its redevelopment.
Notcutts Garden Centre is undergoing a refit, with work under way on new lighting, flooring and the reconfiguration of customer walkways plus a new front entrance and retail space.
This will increase floorspace by 205 sqm and allow it to offer a wider range of clothing, homeware, gifts, furniture and houseplants plus a new pet care area.
Caroline Notcutt, vice chairman of the firm and great-granddaughter of founder Roger Crompton Notcutt, said: “Our project in Woodbridge illustrates our commitment to diversifying our retail offer and investing in our original garden centre site, while maintaining our passion for plants and gardening at our core.
“We look forward to unveiling the transformation and sharing our vibrant indoor retail area with visitors in the year ahead.”
The project will be conducted in short phases in a bid to decrease impact on customers.
It marks the third stage in its wider plans to modernise and transform its site, first opened by Charles Notcutt in 1958, since 2019.
The firm was originally founded in 1897.
Previous additions include a restaurant and outdoor plants canopy area.
Andrew Ingleton, property director at Notcutts, is overseeing the redevelopment.
It is being done in partnership with Dash Developments.
Andrew said: “Woodbridge has always been at the heart of Notcutts. While the garden centre has evolved many times over the years, we are keen to continue enhancing the experience for visitors today and for future generations.
“We are excited to embark on this next chapter of redevelopment, which will completely transform the indoor retail area.
“Once complete, customers can enjoy a more spacious and modern experience with beautiful displays, greater product choice, and easier accessibility throughout.”
