Artist Joey La Meche returns to Norwich Road School, Thetford, to create a mural for pupils

A talented artist has returned to the school he went to as a child to create a mural for reception children.

Joey La Meche grew up in Thetford, and attended Norwich Road School, as it was then, in the 1990s.

It was at the school his skill as an artist was picked up on by a teacher and he has since gone on to complete art projects around the world.

While creating the mural Joey said he was pleased to be able to give something back to the school and hopes to inspire the next generation’s art and creativity with his work.

The colourful mural is the biggest single piece that he has completed and is his interpretation of classic cultural tales for children.

School principal Julia Miles said: “We are thrilled with the final piece and are pleased that the children are too.

“It gives them lots to talk about during their time outside.”

The cost of the mural was supported by the Thetford Education Foundation Trust and school community fundraising.
