Suffolk's Santon Downham records second highest temperature in UK yesterday as September heatwave continues
Suffolk was the second hottest spot in the UK yesterday, after temperatures climbed to almost 30C.
Santon Downham, located between Brandon and Thetford, recorded a temperature of 28.8 degrees - just 0.1 degrees cooler than the highest temperature recorded yesterday in Larkhill, Wiltshire.
And despite summer having officially ended last week, the county is set to remain above 20C for the rest of the week.
West Suffolk in particular is set to bask in the sun, with Newmarket, Mildenhall, Haverhill and Bury St Edmunds to reach highs of 28 and 27 this afternoon.
It comes as Brits were told to brace themselves for a September heatwave. It has come as great news to many who felt that this 2021 summer has been particularly bleak.
To help residents cool down while baking in the sun, we have compiled a list of the best ice cream on offer in our county.
