Trio of thieves steal Audi RS5 and KTM SX 125 motorcycle during weekend raid on C&D motors and servicing in Brandon
The co-owner of a Brandon garage has spoken of his heartbreak after a gang raided his business and stole up to £100,000 worth of items.
A group of three people broke into C&D motors and servicing, in Wimbledon Avenue, in the early hours of Saturday and took vehicles and items including a Black Audi RS5 (registration GY68 KLV) which was halfway through some paint work and had a white coloured passenger wing and door.
David Bunn, who took over the garage with his work partner Chris Pinkney in June 2020, said he felt the thieves had targeted that vehicle, which was fitted with hand controls for its disabled owner.
“The first thing we knew about the break in was at 8am that morning when we went to open up for the day. When we pulled up the front door was ajar and one of the shutters was raised,” said the 37 year-old.
“They got in and from what we saw on the CCTV, before they ripped it out and its sensors, they went straight for that car before anything else.”
The gang also stole one of the company’s Renault Master vans, which was found abandoned in Hockwold later that afternoon, a 40 inch double stack toolbox with Red Bull F1 team livery, a 55 inch bright green tool box, a red Mac limited edition tool box, a Halfords top tool box and an orange KTM SX 125 motorcycle - with a registration of AG55 FEP
“The place had been ransacked, there were tools laying everywhere and my heart just sank,” said Mr Bunn.
“The toolboxes of the guys had tools in them that had been passed down through generations, some given to them by grandparents that are no longer here.
“It is no exaggeration in saying they took between £80,000 to £100,000 worth of stuff, but it is more the financial impact it will have on us as a business going forward – with our insurance going up paired with the employer National Insurance contributions rising – this will hurt us for the next few years.”
Mr Bunn said since the break in, the public had contacted them with messages of support and that meant a lot.
“We have been inundated, both publicly and privately, and would really like to thank everyone for that, the support has been fantastic” he added.
“We are appealing for anyone who could help us with CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to contact Suffolk Police to hopefully stop them striking again.”
Suffolk Police has said that no arrests had been made yet and called on anyone with any information to contact them on 101, quoting crime reference 37/16889/25.
