Caribbean kitchen owner Deron Coleman, of Craigs Da Flava, excited to get started at Thetford Conservative Club after relocating from The Pykkerell Inn in Ixworth
The owner of a Caribbean kitchen said he can’t wait to get started after relocating his business to a venue in a town centre.
Deron Coleman, 45, has moved his business to Thetford Conservative Club and is looking forward to serving customers from tomorrow.
It means he will no longer be hosting his pop-ups at The Pykkerell Inn in Ixworth, near Bury St Edmunds, which he has been running since July 2024.
The Jamaican-born man, who started Craigs Da Flava from his home in Thetford with just £85 in his pocket in 2020, will be serving his authentic food on a Friday and Saturday, and will be doing roast dinners on a Sunday.
“I’m feeling really good. This is a great move, I hope it works out and I just can’t wait to get started,” Deron said.
“I appreciate everyone at the Pykerell Inn who supported us. We had a great time there but this move is on our doorstep and as I can’t drive, this was a no-brainer really as it’s a 15-minute walk up the road for me.
“I’m 100 per cent fully excited for this. I am of course a bit nervous but hopefully I can attract people in and they will enjoy our food.
“It was great to have Thetford Conservative Club reach out to us with the opportunity. They love the food we do and I can’t wait to see where this now takes us.”
Deron’s dishes include jerk chicken, curry goat, sweet chilli chicken and plenty more, with the Craigs De Flava menu available on their Facebook page.
Deron, who quit his job at Center Parcs in Elveden to focus on his business, is supported by his partner Rachel and is the father of 10 children.
“All my kids want me to succeed. They get really buzzed for me and they want to see me go far,” he said.
“I’m enjoying everything right now. I love seeing the smiles on the faces of people after they try my food and it makes them happy.
“We’re still hoping to get our own restaurant one day. It would be amazing and if I could do it, then anyone could do it.”
Craigs da Flava will be serving from the Conservative Club in Magdalen Street on Fridays and Saturdays.
Members of the club can enjoy authentic Caribbean food at the premises, with the public able to enjoy takeaways (available from 1am) and deliveries (available from 5pm).
On Sundays, Deron will be producing roast dinners.
