Drivers warned of four weeks of overnight closures planned for A11 near Thetford




Drivers are being warned of four weeks of overnight closures planned for the A11 near Thetford.

National Highways will be renewing the road markings on the major route on the Suffolk and Norfolk border.

The A11 will be shut from 8pm to 6am for the work to be carried out safely, starting from Monday, April 7, and lasting for four weeks.

The works will be carried out in six phases to minimise disruption.

From April 7 to 9, the northbound carriageway will be closed between Mundford Road roundabout and Thetford Road roundabout.

The diversion route will be the opposite of the northbound route.

From April 25 to 29, National Highways will be closing the southbound carriageway, between Mundford Road roundabout and Brandon Road roundabout.

Motorists planning to use this route will be diverted as follows:

-Exit the A11 at Mundford Road Roundabout onto the A134

-Continue northbound towards Mundford and then join the A1065

-Follow the A1065 to Fiveways Roundabout

-Rejoin the A11 to continue your journey

The southbound carriageway will be closed again between April 30 and May 2, between the Brandon Road roundabout and Thetford roundabout.

National Highways said the diversion route will be the same as the one for the previous closure.

Between May 6 and 8, the northbound carriageway will be closed between Brandon Road roundabout and Thetford roundabout, and the diversion route will be the opposite of the southbound closure.
