Candidates standing for Terry Jermy’s former Thetford Priory Breckland District Council ward revealed
The candidates standing for an MP’s district council ward have been revealed.
He served in the former for 14 years and the latter for 12.
Now, a by-election for Mr Jermy’s Thetford Priory seat on the district council has been slated for May 1, with the candidates listed as:
- Jane James (Conservative)
- Doug Jefferson (Labour)
- Michael Westman (Reform)
- Ian Minto (Lib Dems)
- Timothy Soar (Green)
Mr Jermy, who defeated incumbent South West Norfolk representative and former Prime Minister Liz Truss at the General Election in July, stood down from Norfolk County Council after it was announced the upcoming elections would be postponed due to local government reorganisation.
Breckland Council became home to Norfolk’s first Reform UK councillor after Robin Hunter-Clarke defected from the Conservative Party three months ago.
He was quickly joined by Scott Hussey, who won a seat in Bedingfeld ward at by-election in the district last month.
Mr Hussey received 414 votes in a landslide victory, 205 clear of second place Conservative candidate Paula Wood.
