RYMAN LEAGUE TRANSFER NEWS: AFC Sudbury sign released Brentford player
AFC Sudbury have added to their squad in build-up to Saturday’s opening Ryman Premier Division fixtures with the eye-catching addition of former Brentford winger or left-back Aaron Greene.
Greene, who signed for the EFL Championship side from Chelmsford City in the summer of 2014 was a regular in the Bees’ Under-21s development side in his first season and spent a period on loan in the Vanarama National League North at Boston United last term, where his uncle Dennis is the manager.
He spent some time in pre-season on trial with National League Premier side Dagenham and Redbridge prior to joining up with AFC Sudbury ahead of their friendly at Heybdrige Swifts on Saturday.
Greene, who saw his loan spell at Boston cut short last October after a serious knee injury, marked his first outing for The Yellows with two goals in the 4-0 win at the Ryman League Divsion One North side, AFC’s last game ahead of hosting Dulwich Hamlet in their Premier Division bow on Saturday (3pm).
Meanwhile, AFC Sudbury manager Jamie Godbold has revealed that winger Danny Cunningham will not be re-signing for the club, having spent pre-season with the club after joining the title winners towards the end of last term.
“Danny has been made an offer elsewhere that includes work and has put his family first,” he told the club website. “Talks have been ongoing with him this summer and it’s a shame that we have lost his services as he has been great to work with and really positive within our group of players.”
