HIGHLIGHTS + IPSWICH TOWN COLUMN: Season over? No, the fat lady’s not singing yet
Following a fourth defeat in five, is the fat lady now clearing her throat on our play-off chances?
In the 12 hours following the 1-0 home defeat to leaders Hull City, I had: one fan tweet me saying Town’s season is over; another berating the press for not getting tough enough on Mick McCarthy; and another previously loyal supporter threatening to not renew her season ticket.
Recent form doesn’t lie: we’re chucking it away with the way we’re going.
But in this ‘bonkers league’ (as Mick would say) are we realistically out of the promotion picture?
I’d say no.
Sure, we need to get our act together, and fast, but with a clear head you can see we’ve got 14 games to go to make up seven points (taking into consideration the goal difference).
The worrying thing is the injury situation.
Skuse, Fraser, Bishop McGoldrick and; that’s our spine out. The good news is, they’re on their way back. But in the meantime, we need results.
It wasn’t all doom-and-gloom on Tuesday: Ben Pringle impressed me and Feddie Sears did a great job on the wing.
Also, in isolation, losing by a single goal to the league leaders shows the wheels have far from totally come off this tractor.

Going to a Huddersfield side that are hardly sprinkled with stardust themselves, presents an opportunity to reclaim the steering wheel on Saturday (3pm).
There was a time when I really thought the players weren’t hurting when we went on a bad run. But not now.
They’ll be desperate to keep our hopes alive, and I really believe the Tractor Boys can get back on course yet.
* Something I’m sure all Town fans will agree with me on is my delight in seeing Bartosz Bialkowski sign a new two-year deal. He has been simply excellent since getting his chance to play again
