Haverhill Rovers have signed Tyler Kemp’s twin brother Scott Kemp — and player-manager Michael Shinn has put him straight into the squad as they host Saffron Walden Town in a home derby today (Saturday).

The 19-year-old forward, who opted to leave for first-team football at Whitton United towards the end of last season, will be hoping to make an instant impact at The New Croft as near neighbours Saffron Walden Town provide the opposition.

The former Colne College pupil progressed through AFC Sudbury’s Thurlow Nunn League First Division reserves side after joing in December 2013 and earned his first-team call-up with a substitute appearance in March 2014, in the Ryman League Cup semi-final at Ware.

He went on to help Suffolk FA Under-18s to the county cup final last year, eventually seeing them lose to Lancashire FA at Ipswich Town’s Portman Road.

In total, he made 48 appearances for AFC Sudbury sides (including reserves) with 14 of them from the substitutes bench, and scoring five goals.

Shinn said ahead of confirming the signing that his side needed a natural goalscorer.

Scott’s unidentical twin brother, Tyler, who plays left-back, signed for Rovers at the start of the month from Witham Town.
