FA competition draws are made

AFC Sudbury have been handed a home tie with Ware in the FA Cup, while there is an enticing derby between Long Melford and Cornard United in the FA Vase.

The road to Wembley begins in The Emirates FA Cup begins for Hadleigh United and Long Melford on August 15 when they are among 736 clubs in the extra preliminary round all dreaming of a successful and lucrative run.

AFC Sudbury will enter at the preliminary round on August 29 when they host Evo-Stik League Southern Division One Central side Ware, with the Hertfordshire side having previously been in the Ryman League with them.

Jamie Godbold’s Yellows will be competing for the £1,925 available to the winners.

Hadleigh United’s FA Cup campaign begins with a trip to Hullbridge Sports on August 15, Long Melford begin at home to London Bari with all competing for £1,500 prize money.

In the FA Trophy, AFC Sudbury begin their journey with a trip to Southern League Division One Central outfit Barton Rovers in the preliminary round on Saturday, October 3.

Halstead Town host higher-league Haverhill Rovers in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase on Saturday, September 5, while Long Melford host a local derby with Cornard United and Hadleigh United travel to Essex Senior League Premier Division side Eton Manor.
