Burnley to train at AFC Sudbury ahead of facing Ipswich Town

Burnley’s squad are set to undergo a light training session on AFC Sudbury’s new 3G pitch this morning, ahead of taking on Ipswich Town in the Sky Bet Championship at Portman Road this evening.

Sean Dyche’s team, who were relegated from the Barclays Premier League last season, are due to arrive at The Wardale Williams Stadium at 10.30am and have booked the pitch, only converted from grass this summer, for an hour-and-a-half in preparation for facing Mick McCarthy’s men.

AFC Sudbury director Richard Instance said: “We are obviously delighted they have recognised the quality of our facilities and decided to make use of them.

“It is really busy at the moment. We had our first six-a-side league matches last night with 100 people.

“The ladies played on it on Sunday and the under-18s play their first match on it on Thursday, while Sporting 87 (Bury St Edmunds-based) are also using it as their home ground.”

AFC Sudbury are hoping Burnley’s players are the first of many Championship players to grace their pitch this season, after writing to all the clubs set to face Ipswich in the league.
