Winter road safety scheme hailed as success by Wardale Williams Opticians in Sudbury




A Sudbury opticians has championed the success of a scheme to promote road safety among young people.

Wardale Williams, an independent opticians in Gainsborough Street, is offering free fluorescent high-visibility jackets for youngsters to wear as the winter months draw in.

The jackets contain reflective properties, which enable users to be seen clearly in the dark or reduced light.

A range of community groups, schools and nurseries have benefited from the scheme so far, which was first launched four years ago.

“As a local opticians, we like to get involved in the community and we have various projects we like to run,” said Amanda Skinner, branch manager.

“We have had a lot of interest in the scheme – it has been really well-received.”
