Villagers turn out in force in Little Waldingfield to welcome new rector of Box River Benefice




More than 200 people attended at a service at St Lawrence’s Church in Little Waldingfield recently to welcome Rev Robert Parker-McGee as new rector of the Box River Benefice.

People from each of the five parishes in the benefice – Boxford, Edwardstone, Groton, Little Waldingfield and Newton – took part in the service which marked the start of the rector’s ministry.

Pictured on the left is the rector with the Rt Rev Mike Harrison, Bishop of Dunwich, who conducted the service, the Ven Dr David Jenkins, Archdeacon of Sudbury, who inducted the new rector, and the Rev Stephen Morley, Rural Dean of Sudbury, who introduced the service. Also pictured is Mr Christopher Kingsbury, Reader in the benefice, holding the cross.

During the service, Tim Harbord was commissioned by the bishop as a lay elder in the benefice.
