Van driver punched in the face by pedestrian in Sudbury town centre

Police are appealing for witnesses after a driver was assaulted by a pedestrian in Sudbury.

The incident happened in Friars Street at approximately 7.30pm on Monday August 31.

A man was driving down the road in a white Transit van, when he stopped to let another vehicle pass. As he did, a male pedestrian came up to the driver’s open window and punched him to the face.

The driver then got out of the vehicle to challenge the offender and was punched further to the face.

The victim’s glasses were broken during the incident and he sustained a cut to his chin.

The male offender is described as a white man, approximately 6 foot tall, of a thin build, aged in his thirties, had dark coloured short hair and was wearing a black bomber jacket with a tartan lining and blue jeans.
