Two books offering a deep dive into Long Melford’s long history have gone on sale to support a pair of local heritage organisations.

Local historian and author David Gevaux released Long Melford Picturing the Past last month, exploring many facets of local history, with more than 150 photos.

Also available is Long Melford The Last 2,000 Years, an 18-chapter book spanning Roman times to the Second World War, published with support of the Kistruck family.

Both titles are on sale for £10 each at Breakout in Little St Mary’s, with proceeds supporting Long Melford Historical and Archaeological Society (LMHAS), and Long Melford Heritage Centre.

LMHAS member Julie Thomson said: “I think the books complement each other well. There’s lots of new people in Long Melford who will be interested in finding out about the village. I think the history is what draws people to it.”
