Twinstead Fun Dog Show pulls the crowds
Organisers of Twinstead Fun Dog Show were relieved the rain held off for the village’s annual show on Saturday which saw 300 dogs and their owners taking part.
Marie Stokes who runs the event with her husband Derek said: “Well done to everyone, it was another successful and fun show and the weather was very kind to us.
“We made a fantastic £1,000 to be shared between Poodle Network UK and Twinstead Village Hall.”
The couple own Marie and Derek’s Grooming Parlour in Twinstead and it’s the fourth year they have organised the show, which was held at Twinstead Cricket Club in Church Road.
The show included three obedience classes, eight breed classes and 14 novelty classes, as well as a fun agility course for dogs. There was also a tombola, stalls and a barbecue.
Mr Stokes added: “We were very lucky that the weather cleared and we had some sunshine.
“This time last year we were having a heatwave and it was too hot. This year we were slightly up on the numbers attending and the amount we raised.
“Next year we are thinking of having a fete at the same time, with craft stalls and some novelty stalls for children, all dog-themed such as throw a ball into a bucket with a cut out of a dog shape.
“Overall, it was a great day and we were pleased with how everything went.”
