QD in Sudbury’s East Street reopens after accident

A car smashed into the front of a shop in Sudbury earlier today.

Suffolk Police, alongside ambulance crews and firefighters from Sudbury and Long Melford, were alerted to the QD in East Street, following reports of a collision involving a car.

The manager of the store evacuated the building immediately after the accident, and staff are working to clean up. No one was hurt.

The store’s manager said the car damaged a window and the outside of the building.

After the incident, an elderly driver was taken to hospital.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police said it is believed to have been the result of a medical episode, rather than injuries suffered in the accident.

The East of England Ambulance Service said: “One ambulance and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to East Street this morning following reports of a road traffic collision.

“One man was transported by road ambulance to West Suffolk Hospital for further assessment and care.”

QD Sudbury’s manager said the store reopened at 12.40pm.
