Top-class effort as Acton Primary School master reading programme
Children at Acton Primary School were engrossed in another form of words this week – their award for reading.
Staff and pupils alike have been celebrating after achieving master class status as part of the Accelerated Reader Programme – the third year in a row that the school has scooped the honour.
Teacher Alex Newcombe said: “In order to achieve master class status, 90 per cent of pupils needed to perform well in an online test and read for at least 25 minutes per day for 25 consecutive weeks.
“Of the 4,000 schools that take part, only 17 schools have achieved master class status.
“We are proud of our pupils, especially their support and encouragement of each other.
