Car meet arranged in Sudbury for TikTok car spotters

Two young car enthusiasts are in for a treat later this month after a meet up was arranged in their honour.

Adrian Mayhew, 49, of Sudbury, said there has been an unbelievable amount of interest in the event which he arranged after spotting how much Harry Green, 12, and Leonard Lazurca,12, love cars.

The businessman said he had often seen the pair, who live locally, on a grass verge photographing and videoing nice cars.

After chatting to the boys, he was blown away by their knowledge of different vehicles and discovered they were sharing their photos and footage on TikTok, as part of a hobby called car spotting.”

Adrian said: “They are car fans, good on them for doing something like that.

“They have aspirations of working in the car industry.”

Adrian initially posted about the event on Facebook, where he said: “I’m planning a small car meet for two young lads who spend hours beside a local road filming nice cars, if any of you can make it, would be much appreciated.

“These lads are some of the politest I’ve met and have a passion for our cars, hopefully we can make it a day they won’t forget.”

Speaking about his reasons for organising the event, Adrian said: “It is nice to give something back to the community when you read about negative stuff.

“Their parents have been blown away with the gesture and I am overwhelmed with it and really pleased with how all the plans are going.

“I hope it will inspire and encourage the next generation of car enthusiasts and petrolheads.”

Adrian even had to put his phone on silent, due to the amount of notifications he was getting.

The original location of the H & L car meet had to be changed due to the amount of people wanting to bring their vehicles for Harry and Leonard to see.

There is expected to be about 80 cars and 20 motorcycles there on the day.

Adrian has been helped by his wife Kerry as he arranges the meet, which will take place at the Hevey building supplies car park, on the Chilton Industrial Estate, in Sudbury.

Car and motorcycle lovers of any age are welcome from 12.30pm, on Saturday, August 31.

Adrian has already had plenty of interest from young car spotters and has been asked if he will arrange another meet in the future.

A team from the Cancer Research shop in Sudbury will be collecting donations on the day.

Refreshments will be available.
