St Nicholas Hospice Care’s Light up a Life services to pay tribute to lost loved ones
Thanksgiving services paying tribute to lost loved ones, organised by St Nicholas Hospice Care, are being held in Bury St Edmunds, Thetford and Lavenham this festive season.
The annual Bury St Edmunds Light up a Life service, on Sunday, December 13, will combine a church service at St Mary’s Church, candlelit procession to Angel Hill and a moving ceremony.
Anyone wanting to take part will be offered a candle to carry from the church, as well as have the name of their loved one read out by hospice staff, volunteers and supporters.
Sharon Connell, hospice chaplain and spiritual care co-ordinator, said: “Light up a Life events give people the opportunity to take time out during the busy month of December to remember, give thanks and celebrate the lives of those they love and see no longer.
“As I only joined the hospice this summer, the Light up a Life services will give me the opportunity to meet and join with others in the communities the hospice serves to remember those whose lives we celebrate and give thanks for.”
Services will also be held at Lavenham Salvation Army Hall on December 1, Thetford UnitedReformed Church on December 2, at St Nicholas Hospice Care, in Hardwick Lane, Bury, on December 5 and St Peter’s Church, in Sudbury, on December 6.
There is no charge for Light up a Life, but donations to the hospice are welcome.
No reservations are required at Light up a Life services, other than the ceremony at the main hospice site, in Bury, where space is limited.
