SLIDESHOW: Thrills and spills at It’s a Bury Knockout
Brave teams slipped, bumped and crawled their way round the bubble-soaked It’s a Bury Knockout course at the weekend.
Sunday’s colourful charity event, returning to Hardwick Heath in Bury St Edmunds for the fifth time, saw 12 teams battle it out to be crowned Knockout Kings.
The event has already raised more than £9,000 for West Suffolk Hospital’s My WiSH charity.
Sue Smith, the charity’s fund-raising manager, said this year they had been blessed with the weather.
“The last two years we have had absolutely torrential rain so this year took everybody by surprise,” she said.
“People were actually wanting to get wet this year.
It is just a game but by gosh they wanted to win
“They couldn’t wait to get in the inflatables and the water just to cool off.
“The weather made the event.
“People were just so much more happy to get soaked.”
Six teams competed in two closely fought rounds - with the Bury Enterprise team and AE White Surfacing teams topping the leader board.
These two then took part in a champion of champions challenge.
Sue will be visiting the winning team on Wednesday to crown them champions.
“The highlight for me is seeing just how competitive people are.
“It is just a game but by gosh they wanted to win.”
