Pyjama party at Anglia Sunshine Nurseries in Sudbury aids fundraising efforts for St Nicholas Hospice Care
Youngsters donned colourful pyjamas at a Sudbury nursery to raise vital funds for a charity, which provides care and support for patients living with a life-limiting illness.
Anglia Sunshine Nurseries hosted a pyjama party and cake sale in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care, following its popular Girls Night Out fundraiser earlier this month.
Each year, thousands of women sign up to take part in sponsored walk, making the single biggest fundraiser for the hospice.
Among the participants taking part was nursery manager Felicity Rose, her daughter, Claire, and sister-in-law Louise, who completed the 11.2-mile route.
Determined to raise further funds for the charity, Mrs Rose expressed her gratitude to those people who supported their efforts.
“We have had parents give us money because they know relatives or other people who have needed the help of the hospice in the past,” she said, adding that the children had enjoyed wearing their pyjamas during the day.
The hospice’s vital work proved a motivating factor for Mrs Rose and her family. “You just have to keep going because you know the money is going to benefit so many people,” she said.
Mrs Rose praised the determination of her 17-year-old daughter, Claire, who was keen to support the charity.
“I’m very proud,” she said. “Claire did it last year and I had my doubts, but she absolutely smashed it, she kept motivated and kept me going.”
