Police investigating reports of alleged attempted abduction of toddler in Sudbury

An alleged attempted abduction of a young child in Sudbury is being investigated by Suffolk Constabulary, with any witnesses urged to come forward.

Police confirmed they are looking into social media reports which emerged towards the end of last month, alleging that a woman attempted to abduct a toddler in the vicinity of North Street and Melford Road, at about 11.35am on Wednesday, June 19.

The child was not hurt, and it is understood that no other similar incidents have been reported.

A police spokesperson said: “Enquires are being made and police are aware of numerous discussions regarding this incident on social media and point out that some of the reports are inaccurate.

“Officers would be keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed such an incident in order to establish the circumstances.”
