PICTURES: Tudor High Summer entertains crowds at Kentwell Hall in Long Melford

Celebrating summer Tudor-style entertained the crowds of people who visited Long Melford’s Kentwell Hall at the weekend.

With 200 actors dressed up as Tudors, the hall’s annual Tudor High Summer event proved an authentic journey back in time to a period in history when most people were involved in farming.

The re-creation held at the manor house saw lots of activities, including Tudors working away in the kitchens and carrying out manual tasks and crafts in the 10-acre grounds of the hall.

Tudor High Summer, which goes on until bank holiday Monday, is one of the location’s most popular events of the year, with an emphasis on visitors rolling up and their sleeves and getting hands-on with lots of activities.

The next Tudor event held at Kentwell Hall is Michaelmas Weekend which takes place on September 21 and 22.

Around 100 actors will take part in the event to celebrate the The Feast of St Michael and All Angels, marking Tudor harvest time.

With apples and pears in abundance, visitors get the chance to learn about different varieties grown on the ancient fruit trees in the hall’s walled garden.
