Despite a week of blistering heat giving way to rainy weather over the weekend, the party atmosphere kept on rolling at Belle Vue Park in Sudbury, for one of the town’s signature events.
Between 3,000 and 4,000 visitors of all ages turned out for the annual Party in the Park on Sunday to enjoy a variety of entertainment, displays and activities.
The event featured arts and crafts, tag rugby, martial arts displays, climbing walls, bungee trampolines, a Punch and Judy show, children’s entertainers, face painting, various stalls, bouncy castles, slides and inflatables.

Meanwhile, an acoustic music stage run by The Befriending Scheme performed throughout the day, before numerous local soloists and bands played on the main stage provided by the Quay Theatre in the evening.
Teresa Elford, who organised Party in the Park on behalf of Sudbury Town Council, said that, while the overall attendance was down year on year because of the rain, the event was still a big success.
“The weather affected it, so we were down on numbers,” she said.

“We didn’t have the kind of crowds that we had last year, but there were lots of people who came out after lunchtime, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
“Everyone really liked the music. It was a great platform for youngsters to get up on stage and perform. The event was a big success.”
