Hundreds of people lined the streets of Sudbury on Remembrance Sunday to commemorate the war heroes who sacrificed their lives in the two world wars and later conflicts.
On Market Hill, The Colchester Pipes and Drums led the parade along Gainsborough Street at 2pm, before making its way to St Gregory’s Church, where a service was held, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony, which was conducted close by at the British and American war memorials.
After the parade regrouped, it marched to North Street, where a salute was taken outside the town hall by the deputy lord lieutenant Geoffrey Probert, Sudbury mayor Robert Spivey and Sudbury Royal British Legion branch president Len Manning.

Local groups and organisations taking part in the procession included representatives from the Royal British Legion, Royal Air Force Association, police cadets and air training corps, along with scouts and guides.
Stuart Hume, chairman of the Sudbury branch of the Royal British Legion, who organises the Sudbury and Great Cornard remembrance parades every year, praised the success of the commemorative event.
“I’m absolutely delighted,” he said. “When it all comes together, it’s just fantastic.”

Mr Hume, who has organised the local Poppy Appeal since 1990, raising around £750,000 for war veterans in the process, will be standing down from the role due to health concerns at the branch’s award ceremony in January.
Highlighting the significance of the appeal, which is dedicated to helping service men and women and their families, he said: “I can’t thank them enough, it’s impossible – you can only say thank you to show your appreciation.”
