PICTURES: Kentwell Hall in Long Melford recreates Tudor experience with Midsummer event
Kentwell Hall in Long Melford recently staged a recreation event based on how the Tudors lived in the year 1588.
Called Tudor Midsummer, it was held at the weekend and also takes place again this weekend.
There were plenty of hands-on activities for all the family to take part in.
Top of the list was the chance to see and hear from actors dressed as Tudors about their daily life in the 16th century, including watching them at work doing labour-intensive tasks such as cooking and building.
The Tudor era spanned 120 years, and more than 150 actors dressed in period costumes were involved in the event, which was all about turning the clock back in order to give people a chance to experience how our ancestors lived in the past.
From picking petals to make rose water and cutting wood for fires, to preparing food to cook in the open air and practising fighting skills, visitors were able to get a good idea for what life was like in 1588 as the actors went about their daily tasks.
The event continues this weekend.
