Hadleigh petrol station fire sees man suffer life-threatening injuries




A man has suffered life-threatening injuries after a fire broke out at a Hadleigh petrol station.

Emergency services were called just before 7.20am today to reports of a fire at the Lady Lane Garage in the town.

A man, aged in his 40s, sustained serious burn injuries and was airlifted to Broomfield Hospital, in Chelmsford, for treatment.

A Suffolk Police spokesman has said his injuries are thought to be 'life-changing or life-threatening'.

Members of the public rushed to the man's aid before emergency services arrived at the scene and police have thanked those who helped.

Police closed local roads, all of which have now reopened, and have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire. It is believed that no one else was involved.
