Paw-fect day for pooches and owners at Ardmore Vestival in Sudbury

Four legged friends were the focus of attention when this year’s Ardmore Vestival took place on Saturday.

The event was launched for the first time last year as a charity fundraiser by the Ardmore Veterinary Practice in Great Cornard. Organisers decided to take the plunge and put the show on again.

Taking place at the Delphi sports and social club in Newton Road, scores of owners and their dogs turned out for the event.

There was a show by the Conquest K9 Display Team with dogs jumping through hoops of fire.

Visitors were able to enlist their pets in the have-a-go agility course.

And the fun dog show, exotic animals, live music, Sudbury fire engines, a bouncy castle and face painting proved popular attractions.

The event ran from midday to 5pm.

Organiser Alison Lumley said: “We think it looked and worked better this time. It went very well. We reckon around a thousand people came.”

She said: “A dog swimming pool provided by Canine Aqua Sports was a focal point. “Having the pool and the Conquest K9 team at a local event was great for us as usually you have to go to big super vet events to see that kind of thing. We hope people enjoyed themselves.”

Around £3,000 raised from the event is being split between three animal charities and Suffolk Fire Service.
