Lavenham pre school has been given the go ahead for a new purpose built pre school and youth centre in the grounds of the village hall.

The project means the existing pre school, which meets in the dining hall of the primary school, will have room to take more children.

The project will need £250,000 and already a range of fund-raising events have been planned by Lavenham Community Council and Village Hall.

Sue Clark, manager of the village hall , said : “What better way to celebrate 10 years of our village hall by being able to expand in this way?

“We want to bring in young families and keep them and it is wonderful to be able to offer more space to our children.”

The single storey building will be linked to the main hall and provide space for smaller groups. It will also provide facilities for young people in the village.

Katherine Eves from the pre school said: “We were a packaway pre school which limited how much time we could offer. W e will be able to do outside activities as well. We really appreciate this opportunity.” Events planned include Call my Bluff wine tasting with Regis Crepy from The Great House, a cabaret night and Bollywood Ball.
