Runners taking part in an annual fundraising event in Nayland will have a chance to win a medal created by a school pupil, following a recent design competition.

Adam Walker was chosen as the winner of a contest at Nayland Primary School, which asked children to design the medal for the Nayland 1km Fun Run, based on the theme of ‘What Nayland means to you’.

His winning design will now be branded on to the wooden medal that will be presented to everyone who finishes the one-kilometre course.

It will take place alongside a five-kilometre and ten-kilometre run at the third annual Nayland 10k, taking place on June 30 to raise money for Nayland Community Council and Sesaw Animal Rescue.

Raegan Delaney, headteacher at Nayland Primary School, said: “We are so pleased to be involved in the Nayland 1km Fun Run. It is an excellent opportunity to improve children’s fitness, raise some money for our school and, most importantly, have fun.”

More than 400 runners have signed up to the event so far.

To register for a place in the run, go online to www.nayland10k.co.uk.
