Nayland Primary School hopes to send painted rocks around the world with new project
Nayland will be filled with 300 painted rocks today, as the village primary school kicks off a project that it hopes will leave an imprint on the world.
Children, staff, parents and governors at Nayland Primary School have spent the week decorating rocks and pebbles with special messages and pictures, which they are now placing all around the village.
They are hoping residents will find one of the rocks, take it somewhere around the world, and upload a photo with their location to the Nayland Rocks Facebook page, allowing pupils to plot their travels on maps.
Deputy headteacher Katie Coburn told the Free Press: “We’re hoping that people will go out to collect a rock and then take it on a journey.
“We thought it would be really exciting if, as a rural village, something we do could have an impact on the world.
“More than anything, sometimes in a small village, you can forget you are part of a bigger picture.”
