Long Melford support hub Breakout celebrated at House of Lords reception ahead of Small Business Saturday

A multi-purpose Long Melford hub has been named among the UK’s top 100 small businesses, ahead of a national day of entrepreneurial celebration this weekend.

Breakout – a business support centre based in Little St Mary’s – was featured in this year’s SmallBiz100, during a special reception held at the House of Lords last week.

Farley Boxall, who founded the business in April 2021, was invited to the event in Westminster on December 2, which was attended by small business owners and MPs from across the country.

The reception was held in the lead-up to Small Business Saturday, an annual initiative highlighting the nation’s small business community, which takes place this weekend.

As part of Small Business Saturday, Breakout is hosting a pop-up shop from 8am to 4pm – in collaboration with OS Suffolk, a service based near Sudbury which distributes products for small to medium-sized companies.

At the reception, Farley was highlighted for her “inspiring entrepreneurial journey”, which led her to set up Breakout, to provide a shared working space and various support services for other businesses.

“Our whole business and ethos is to help other small businesses,” she said.

“Everything we do is to support and help others succeed to keep fantastic customer service, quality and choice across all industries.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be part of Small Business Saturday, as it is everything we live and breathe.”

Michelle Ovens, director of Small Business Saturday, said: “Small businesses like Breakout Long Melford deliver incredible value across their local community and the wider economy.

“It is wonderful to have celebrated their contribution at the House of Lords.

“Public support is absolutely vital for small businesses across the UK, so we urge everyone up and down the country to get behind them on Small Business Saturday and beyond.”
