Lavenham mum Kelly Humphreys, 37, aka the 'monthly mum' to donate sanitary products in Sudbury to fight period poverty
A mum from Lavenham has made it her mission to ensure ladies don't miss out during the cost of living crisis.
Kelly Humphreys, 37, also known as the 'monthly mum', is donating sanitary products to people in and around Sudbury.
A week into her pledge, she has created over 200 packages containing pads, tampons and liners, all in a little paper bag.
Many of the products have been donated by the community, but the nearby Tesco has also provided supplies.
The mum-of-three said: "I make discreet little packages and will be delivering them to local schools so residents can help themselves.
"I collect the products as I have to commute to Sudbury everyday to drop off my two girls, so the two goals go hand in hand.
"I will also be making the deliveries myself. I've seen that many young ladies have issues in the current climate and I just want to help out in any way I can."
She has set up a GoFundMe to encourage others to donate spare products or money to the cause.
Kelly has decided to drop off these little bundles of joy at least once per month, which has given rise to her unique nickname.
She has made contact with local schools to organise deliveries and is also hoping to also make deliveries directly to those in need.
The monthly mum will her first deliveries to both Ormiston Academy and Acton Primary School tomorrow.
Eventually, Kelly hopes to make deliveries to other public places, such as dentists, doctors surgeries, and other schools.
While some businesses have said no to her proposal, she will keep persevering to provide aid to the area.
Kelly added: "I honestly didn't know there was such a thing as period poverty, but then I did my research and its the worst it has been in 40 years due to the cost of living.
"Local authorities in Scotland provide free sanitary products and, quite frankly, I think we should too.
"People shouldn't have to worry about their period approaching because they can't afford sanitary products."
