Leavers' prom organised by parents gives perfect send-off to Year 11 students at Ormiston Sudbury Academy
Students received the perfect send-off at the weekend as they celebrated their GCSE results with a leavers’ prom night.
Around 70 Year 11 pupils at Ormiston Sudbury Academy arrived at Acton Village Hall on Saturday evening for the prom, complete with a DJ, decorations and a photo booth.
Many of them arrived in a range of special vehicles, from vintage coaches to Rolls Royces, and received a keepsake wristband as a memento.
The occasion was organised by a group of parents after the school event was cancelled due to Covid restrictions.
Suzanne Double, one of the organisers, described the night as a “huge success”.
"We could not have done this without the support of the parents, family and friends of the Year 11s, who generously donated funds and time," she said.
"Special mention to Mr Herring, the head of year 11, who during the last year has been one of the most supportive role models the children could have had.
"He unfortunately couldn’t be with us on the night, but sent a video message in that we shared to them all.
"They had a fantastic time, were so grateful for what had been achieved and messages of praise and thanks came flooding in after.
"As a parent group, we are very proud of what we achieved for the them all, following a great results day this just finished their school year off with a bang."
