Lavenham Christmas Fair appeals for further support after confirming event will run this year
The organisers of a popular Christmas fair in Lavenham say they are relieved that the popular event will be returning to the village – after it faced an uncertain future earlier this year.
Following an appeal, businesses, villagers and organisations came together to pledge their support to help secure the three-day spectacle, which will take place from December 6 to 8.
Lesley Thompson, from the organising committee, has urged volunteers to come forward to help ensure this year’s event is a success.
She said: “It would have been a huge shame for the fair to have stopped and we are determined to carry on, but we would like extra support.”
Staged on the Market Place, attractions will feature 50 stalls offering festive novelty goods, a guided lantern tour of the medieval village, a fairground and live music.
Santa and his helpers will be welcoming visitors to the big man’s grotto at Little Hall, a charming 14th century site.
A best-dressed Dickensian-style outfit competition is taking place, which is being judged by musicians the Suffolk Sisters.
