Lavenham Art Society enjoys successful opening weekend at annual exhibition

More than £500 of artwork by local artists was sold in a successful opening weekend for a village society’s annual exhibition.

The Lavenham Art Society kicked off its annual two-week art event at St Peter and St Paul’s Church on Saturday, with 36 members displaying a variety of work, including water colour pictures, ink drawings, mixed media, animal portraits and abstract images.

Society treasurer Jacqui Scott-Burgin told the Free Press: “There was a big range of work for people to view and enjoy. On Saturday and Sunday, there were a lot of people.

“All of the framed works are original and no two pieces are the same, so the exhibition changes on a daily basis when the sales happen.

“If you see it at the start, it might be very different at the end. It constantly evolves.”

The free-to-enter exhibition runs until August 26, from 9am to 6pm Mondays to Saturdays and noon to 6pm on Sundays.
